
Catalina Island - Preserved for All to Enjoy

Just off the coast of Southern California is an Island that looks much like
California did two hundred years ago, a wilderness of oak, cactus, and sage, an
island with secluded coves surrounded by ocean with lush kelp forests and abundant
sea life. This is Santa Catalina Island, a wilderness
preserved for all to enjoy. Yet, Catalina Island has all the recreational activities
of a modern beach resort.
Tours of Catalina Island's interior, tours of Avalon, day-time tours of Avalon's
historic Art Deco Casino building and movies shown at night in its elaborate theatre;
semi-submersible glass-bottom boat trips, flying fish trips, jeep eco-tours, and
"hummer" tours at the Isthmus; swimming, fishing, bicycling, hiking, camping,
surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayak rentals, parasailing, and ocean rafting.
You can rent paddle boats and paddle boards, skiffs and golf carts, or everything
you need for your day at the beach, from umbrellas to boogie boards. You can charter
a fishing boat or a sail boat, or a boat to take you wake boarding and tube riding.
There is a nine-hole golf course, a miniature golf course, tennis courts, a skateboard
park, horseback riding, and a penny arcade.
There is a botanical garden, Both the Catalina Island Conservancy and the Catalina
Island Museum offer year round education programs.
